Make sure to follow aftercare guidelines, especially in the first 5 days. The better you take care of your tattoo during this time, the better it will heal overall.
If you have a second skin type bandage, leave on for 3 days at most. Bacteria grows after 3 days, which can lead to infection. When you are ready to remove, gently rub/roll off under water. Clean the tattoo.
Both are normal as your body is reacting to trauma. However, if the area is warm, sore, or bruised for more than a week, ask a doctor to check for infection
The first couple days are crucial to let your body rest. Whether it is a nap, or sleeping a little earlier/getting up later, it is important for the healing process.
Sometimes we want to get a tattoo on vacation, but please schedule your tattoo on the last day of your trip. Sunburns can lead to infections. The ocean, and any body of water, has bacteria that can be deadly if you have an open wound. Pools have harsh chemicals that can lead to infection. It's safe to say, try to stay indoors or in shade, get lots of rest after your appointment, if possible.
Avoid any picking, peeling, and scratching of your tattoo. This can cause scarring and can impact the overall color of the tattoo. It also makes your healing time longer, just like any scab. Allow the tattoo to come off at it's own time. Moisturizing significantly helps with peeling.
